Namun, pada tahun itu justru terjadi sebuah kebakaran besar yang nyaris meratakan kota London. sebelumnya Nostradamus sudah meramalkan bahwa London akan terkena bencana

3. Munculnya Komet Halley pernah diartikan sebagai akhirnya perputaran Bumi.
Pada masa itu, sejumlah orang yakin ekor komet itu membawa gas yang dapat menghancurkan Bumi khususnya di tahun 1919. Namun, kenyataannya komet tersebut muncul setiap 76 tahun sekali.

pada saat itu dipercaya bahwa komet Halley akan datang membawa abu dan gas beracun yang akan memusnahkan seluruh spesies yang ada di Bumi
4. Penganut Kristen sekte Kesaksian Jehovah yang didirikan tahun 1870-an pernah meramalkan bahwa dunia akan kiamat pada 1914.
Namun, begitu lewat tahun 1914, mereka hanya mengatakan ‘tidak lama lagi’.
5. Bertemunya sejumlah planet pada posisi sejajar sempat diprediksikan sebagai berakhirnya dunia
khususnya pada 5 Mei 2000 ketika Merkurius, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, dan Saturnus berada di jalur yang sama.

7. Masih terkait dengan komet, para pengikut Kristen sekte Heaven’s Gate yakin bahwa komet Hale-Bopp yang ditemukan pada 1995 menghantam Bumi pada Maret 1997.
Sebanyak 39 pengikutnya melakukan aksi bunuh diri dengan keyakinan bahwa UFO yang membonceng pada komet itu akan menyelamatkan mereka dari kiamatnya Bumi.
8. Dalam bukunya, Ice: The Ultimate Disaster (1997) Richard Noone memprediksikan bahwa pada 5 Mei 2000, planet-planet akan bersejajar dan kehidupan akan berakhir seiring dengan mencairnya semua es di muka Bumi.
